Sanuli

What's Sanuli?

Originating from the land of a thousand lakes, the Sanuli game is an interesting Finnish word puzzle with some inspiration from the world-famous Wordle game. Despite being incredibly simple in gameplay, the game has captured the hearts of many players.

As it took inspiration from the wordle game, it also asks you to solve for a hidden five-letter word. However, it will allow you greater control over the gameplay by letting you decide on the options before playing.

The color-coded hint system stays the same, so you won't need to spend too much time familiarizing yourself with it again.

The Sanuli game provides its players with a delightful blend of Finnish language immersion and word puzzle entertainment. With engaging variations and adjustable levels, the game can cater to players of all skill levels in Finnish.

A native speaker seeking mental workouts and a language enthusiast eager to expand their Finnish vocabulary should enjoy the game similarly!

How To Play Sanuli

The Sanuli game's entire word database is built from a modern Finnish word list by the Center for Domestic Languages (Kotus). This database also has the "CC Nimää 3.0 Mookaamaton" license. As a result, it contains basically all Finnish words that are still in use today.

You can also customize many aspects of the Sanuli game according to your preferences. For instance, the game allows you to choose a word list that feels suitable for your level. There are three options: easy, standard, and hard.

You can also choose between five-letter words and six-letter words. This can keep the game fresh for a much longer time for people.

As for the core gameplay, it's not that different from the Wordle game, with the same color-coding hints: green for correct letters, yellow for misplaced letters, and gray for wrong letters. You need to figure out the secret word within 6 tries.

Tips To Play Sanuli

Like in any other language worldwide, vowels always appear in Finnish words. As a result, you should start with strong words that contain as many vowels as possible. Other characters are also common in Finnish words without being vowels, so try to include them.

Of course, the letters should be as diverse as possible. After all, the first few guesses usually reduce the possibilities. It would help if you maximize the chance of hitting something as much as possible.

After the first few chances, start utilizing word families. Related words, such as those with similar suffixes, prefixes, or root words, will help tremendously expand your potential answer pool.

There is also a list of songs from Sanuli that combines difficult and normal words. You can check them out for some hints.
